Blog Journal #8

After working own the Web Design assignment, I learned a variety of new website styling skills. One of these skills was how to take images from the internet and use them as background elements. This helped add broaden the variety of styling techniques I could utilize for future websites. Another skill I learned was how to create and customize tabs on the website. This is useful for organizing the website and giving each page its own unique theme and section of information. The last skill I learned was how to use dividers to separate/ organize the images and text from each other. This allowed for me to make the website more aesthetically pleasing for viewing purposes. In addition, a well put together looking website attracts and maintains viewers. I liked that the assignment forced us to put our own creative spin and taught us all these useful skills in the process. This is a link to the website that I created: https://ozzybiology.weebly.com

I also learned some new skills from working with Diigo. These skills consisted of how to organize information on the website and how to communicate amongst group members. The most useful skill I learned was how to input information onto the site and allowing it to be accessible for other group members. This helped with organization and communication as the other members where able to fix or adjust the parts they were responsible for. I application would be useful in a classroom because it could help group assignments become easier to complete. The groups would be able to group together and have their information on display for the other group members to contribute. This application would be helpful for team members in a similar manner, but also it could be used more so for the communication aspect as well. Lastly the application could be helpful in my own professional efforts by just trying to manage my work and keeping it organized where information is easily accessible.

Teachers constantly have to adapt to new technology and manipulate it to teach and keep their students engaged. With that being said, technology has been evolving over the years to make the professional development of teachers easier. This has been done with software like smart boards, canvas, Diigo, etc. All these technological tools help to facilitate information and or help with tedious tasks like grading. One website, https://elearningindustry.com/top-educational-technology-trends-2020-2021, is a great place to check for trends in technology on education. They keep a list of the top technology trends annually and make a new list each year.

  1. Great work on the website. I thought the design was simple but very well designed which is beneficial for the students and parents. All sections were easy to read and navigate to each tab as well back to the home page. The resources were also easy to access and update given the material for the class. Overall great job!
